HC Deb 05 February 1959 vol 599 c114W
105. Mr. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will have a special watch kept by the police on the roads of the Abbey Estate, Wembley, for a short period in order to prevent traffic travelling along them at high speed, and to see what further measures are needed to make them safer for children to cross.

Mr. Renton

In reply to a Question by my hon. Friend on 20th November last my right hon. Friend said that the Commissioner of Police had informed him that the police would continue to do all they could to ensure compliance with the speed limits in this area. It is for the Commissioner to decide how this should be done and it would not be right for my right hon. Friend to seek to intervene in an operational matter of this kind.
