HC Deb 04 February 1959 vol 599 c85W
161. Mrs. Braddock

asked the Secretary of State for War to what extent it is intended to continue shell testing when the 21 Command Workshop, Burscough, move to 12 Command Workshop, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Deysbrook, Liverpool, next year; and what consultation has taken place with the Liverpool Corporation regarding this matter.

Mr. Soames

Shells are not tested in R.E.M.E. workshops. The only weapons to be fired at Deysbrook will be small arms up to a calibre of .303 inches. Tests will take place during working hours in a partly sound-proofed range, about 300 yards from the nearest house with depot buildings in between. Details are being sent to the local authorities.
