asked the Postmaster-General, at the latest convenient date, what was the number of persons on the telephone waiting list throughout the country, and the number of persons who share telephones.

At 31st December, 1958, there were 67,800 persons on the waiting list; in addition, applications from 78,500 others were under inquiry or in course of being met. The number of persons sharing their telephones was 1,140,000.
