HC Deb 04 February 1959 vol 599 cc62-3W
84. Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation when he now expects to hold a public inquiry into the Viking aircraft accident of 2nd September 1958; to what extent technical evidence will be made available at this inquiry which was not available at the coroner's inquest; and by what authority and for what reason he first requested the coroner to postpone and then to resume the inquest on the victims of this accident.

Mr. Watkinson

I hope that the public inquiry will be started within the next few weeks. As at the inquest all the information which the Court requires will be made available. In accordance with normal practice, the inquest was adjourned, and resumed when the Director of Public Prosecutions indicated that he was not proposing to institute criminal proceedings at that stage.
