Harveyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what protests have been made to the State Department regarding the failure of the English Electric Company Limited to be allocated the contract for hydro-electric turbines for the Greers Ferry Dam, Arkansas, although the British tender was the lowest.
§ Mr. R. AllanHer Majesty's Ambassador at Washington spoke to the United States Under-Secretary of State for Economic Affairs on 13th January and again on 18th January, and to the United States Secretary of State on 21st January. In addition, my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade handed a memorandum on the subject to the American Chargé d' Affaires on 23rd January. No reply has yet been received.
§ Mr. Fernyhoughasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what reply Her Majesty's Government have received from the State Department of the United States Government to the protest made by Her Majesty's Ambassador in Washington on 21st January, 1959, about the rejection of the English Electric Company's tender for the supplying of turbines.
