HC Deb 03 February 1959 vol 599 c43W
93. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies for what reason 36 Africans attending the Government artisans training centre in Limbe, Nyasaland, have been dismissed from their course; what appeal procedure is available to them; and to what trade union they belong.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

These apprentices were dismissed for repeated wilful disobedience in contravention of their indentures of apprenticeship. If an apprentice considers himself aggrieved he may commence a civil action or complain to a magistrate. At the time of their dismissal they were not members of a trade union.
