HC Deb 03 February 1959 vol 599 cc30-1W
52. Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the Scottish Special Housing Association houses in Dundee, giving the number of tenants who are now paying rent under the new rent scheme; how many applications for rent rebate there have been; and if he will analyse these to show the various rebates and to what extent tenants are now paying a lower rent than under the old scheme.

Mr. Maclay

All but 26 of the 2,571 tenants of Association houses in Dundee are paying the new rents. Six hundred and six applications for rebates have been received, of which 514 have been granted, 46 refused and 46 are under consideration. The rebates granted vary in amount up to 8s. 2d. a week. At least 335 tenants are now paying less rent than before.
