HC Deb 03 February 1959 vol 599 c43W
92. Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what economies are being made in Uganda Government services; and for what reasons.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

In November, 1958, the Uganda Government imposed a partial embargo on recruitment to the Government service due to the reduced yield from the export tax on cotton and coffee. Other general economy measures will be considered in the forthcoming budget.
