Mr. du Cannasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he has yet considered the draft order lodged by the Somerset Magistrates Courts Committee under Section 18 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1949, providing for the amalgamation of the Petty Sessional Divisions of Wiveliscombe and Wellington, and the local objections thereto; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. VosperAfter considering the objections which have been lodged against the draft order, my right hon. Friend has directed that a local inquiry shall be held. The Somerset Magistrates' Courts Committee, and the objectors, have been informed of this decision and have been told that they will be notified of the arrangements for holding the inquiry.
