HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 cc250-1W
Mr. Oswald

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many families and how many persons have been evacuated from the unsafe buildings in Beaumont Place, Dalrymple Place, Grass-market and Dumbiedykes Road in the city of Edinburgh during the past five weeks.

Mr. Maclay

The Corporation informs me that 105 families comprising 335 persons have been moved from unsafe houses in Beaumont Place, Dalrymple Place and Dumbiedykes Road in the period. About a dozen families were evacuated from the building in Grass-market; these were, however, allowed to return almost at once after emergency repairs had been done by the Corporation, and the number of persons involved is not known.
