HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 cc259-60W
Mr. de Freitas

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is satisfied that there is adequate pure drinking water and adequate washing facilities at Royal Air Force, Swinderby, Lincolnshire.

Mr. Ward

As the result of difficulties over the local supply, some restrictions have had to be put upon the use of water at Swinderby recently, although there has always been enough to provide a daily average of about 35 gallons a head. The situation should be remedied within the next few days.

There was also some contamination of the drinking water, but the latest tests have been satisfactory. As a precaution, however, parents have been advised to boil water for children under eighteen months until further tests have confirmed this.
