§ Mr. Symondsasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs the number of houses built by local authorities from January, 1958, to 31st October, 1959, for slum clearance.
§ Mr. H. BrookeInformation is not yet available for October, 1959, but local authorities have notified me that 82,916 of the houses completed between 1st January, 1958, and 30th September, 1959, have been built for slum clearance purposes. I am still awaiting information from local authorities about the purposes for which a further 31,000 houses completed in the same period have been used, but it is likely that a large proportion of these will also have been for slum clearance.
