HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 cc221-2W
95. Mrs. White

asked the Minister of Education what facilities are provided by education authorities in Birmingham and Bradford, respectively, to enable Pakistani and Indian children to acquire enough English to profit by their schooling.

Sir D. Eccles

I understand that both local education authorities find that many Pakistani and Indian children already have an adequate knowledge of English when they enter school. Where this is not so, both arrange for them to have extra lessons in the language.
