Captain Kerby

asked the Minister of Transport if he will set up a committee to report on the amendments which will need to be made to the Merchant Shipping Acts in order to enable crews for merchant submarine cargo vessels to be found from civilian sources, provided that the seamen in question were given adequate training.

Mr. Marples

No. No amendments of the Merchant Shipping Acts are necessary in this respect.

asked the Minister of Transport if he will consider setting up a sub-committee to the committee appointed recently to advise on the replacement of the liners "Queen Elizabeth" and "Queen Mary", for the purpose of studying the question of building a nuclear submarine cargo vessel in addition to the replacement liners in question.
