HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 cc230-1W
Mr. de Ferranti

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proposals Her Majesty's Government have for asking the International Monetary Fund to renew the existing Standby Agreement with the United Kingdom.

Mr. Amory

None. Our standby arrangement with the International Monetary Fund is due to expire on 21st December, 1959, and in view of the improvement in our external position I do not consider that it is necessary to seek its renewal.
