HC Deb 17 December 1959 vol 615 c236W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister of Aviation, as representing the Minister for Science, whether he has considered the recent report of the Advisory Council on Scientific Policy with regard to the cost of a British space research programme; and, in view of the fact that such research is mainly for military purposes, if he will ensure that public money is not applied in this way but is devoted to housing, pensions or other peaceful ends.

Mr. Sandys

The British space research programme is not directed towards military objects. Its purpose is to contribute towards the general advancement of scientific knowledge.
