§ Mr. Sydney Irvingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made towards modifying the existing X-ray shoe fitting machines and in the training of operators in accordance with the agreement between Her Majesty's Government and manufacturers and retailers and which became effective on 1st July, 1958.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe agreement was that existing machines should be modified by 1963. I understand that good progress has been made towards achieving this. I have no reason to doubt that staff who understand the appropriate control measures are available in shops in accordance with the agreement.
