HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 cc167-8W
117. Mr. W. R. Williams

asked the Minister of Transport whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution sent to him by the Manchester, Salford and District Council of Churches, regarding the growing number of deaths and injuries on the roads; and what reply he proposes to make to the Council's suggestion that a Royal Commission be appointed to consider how the level of casualties can be substantially reduced.

Mr. Hay

We are greatly concerned at the number of deaths and injuries on the roads, but we are not satisfied that a Royal Commission on Road Accidents would be a suitable means of dealing with the problem at present.
