§ Mr. Costainasked the Postmaster-General what changes he is making in the overseas telephone and telegraph services as a result of the conference held in Geneva last year; and when he will put them into effect.
§ Mr. BevinsAt the Administrative Telegraph and Telephone Conference, which met in Geneva in the autumn of 1958, a number of changes in the international Telegraph and Telephone Regulations, to take effect on 1st January, 1960, were agreed. The great majority 157W of these changes—many of which are of a minor character—apply to operating methods. The only changes affecting rates are that the minimum number of words charged for in an overseas full-rate telegram will be increased from 5 to 7, and in an overseas Press telegram from 10 to 14.
I am about to lay new Regulations and publish a Gazette notice giving effect to the alterations.
