HC Deb 16 December 1959 vol 615 c177W
109. Mr. Driberg

asked the Minister of Transport if he will give a general direction to the British Transport Commission that before major works of rnodernisation are undertaken at British Railways hotels, the plans are to be submitted to the Royal Fine Art Commission.

Mr. Marples

No. The Commission seek planning permission for new buildings in accordance with the requirements of the Town and Country Planning Act. Where it is considered desirable, having regard to the position and importance of the proposed building, either the local authority from which permission is sought would consult the Royal Fine Art Commission, or the British Transport Commission would do so themselves.
