HC Deb 15 December 1959 vol 615 c141W
Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is the number of Africans in Northern Rhodesia held in detention or restricted without trial, respectively; and when it is proposed that they shall be released or the restriction orders lifted.

Mr. J. Amery

No person is detained without trial. Nineteen Africans are subject to restriction orders. All restriction orders are under constant review and they will be revoked or suspended as soon as the Governor considers that this can be done without endangering public order.
