HC Deb 15 December 1959 vol 615 c148W
125. Mr. Donnelly

asked the Minister of Defence whether he will now state the terms of the authority by which he scrutinises the public speeches or lectures of officers serving in other Departments of State.

Mr. H. Watkinson

Officers of the three Services are required to seek permission from their Departments before making public statements on matters bearing on their Services. Under the Ministry of Defence Act, 1946, I am responsible for the formulation and general application of a unified policy relating to the Armed Forces of the Crown.
