§ Mr. Ellis Smithasked the Minister of Health whether he has considered the letter sent him by Shrewsbury Trades Council about charges for medical services; whether he has studied the minutes of the Birmingham Regional Hospital Board referred to by the hon. Member for Stoke-on-Trent, South, on 30th July, 1959; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithI referred the report I received from the Board on this matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions last August and I have now been informed that as at present advised he is not instituting proceedings against any person mentioned in the report.
I am making arrangements for an inquiry to be held under Section 70 of the National Health Service Act, 1946. into the circumstances.
