HC Deb 14 December 1959 vol 615 c89W
11. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the recent statement by the General Dental Practitioners Association, a copy of which has been sent to him by the hon. Member for Leicester, North-West; and, in view of the possibility of a link between the big drop in the consumption of welfare foods such as cod liver oil and orange juice and the big increase in teeth troubles amongst children, and in view of the continued decline in the uptake of these welfare foods, whether he will seek the advice of independent consultants as to how the facilities can be popularised and used more effectively.

Miss Pitt

Yes, my right hon. and learned Friend has seen the statement. But the suggestion that children's diet is generally deficient in protective substances is not accepted.
