§ Mr. Stodartasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the difficulty of distinguishing between a trap other than an approved trap that has been set for a fox, as permitted by the Agriculture (Spring Traps) (Scotland) Order dated 23rd October, 1958, and a trap that has been set for a rabbit in contravention of the Spring Traps Approval 118W (Scotland) Order of the same date; and whether, in order to facilitate such a distinction, he will prohibit the use of any gin or leg-hold trap smaller than the sixinch size.
§ Mr. MaclayI am not aware of any difficulty of the kind suggested by my hon. Friend. Traps set for taking foxes can be distinguished from those set illegally for taking rabbits by the place and manner in which they are set. In the circumstances there would be no advantage in making the suggested prohibition.
