§ 96. Mrs. Castleasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to a case in which a probation officer brought a man before the court for failing to comply with his probation order because the man in question had refused to accept a job involving Sunday work; whether this was done with his approval; and if he will make a statement.
68W
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI assume that the hon. Lady is referring to a probationer who was recently brought before the Bath magistrates for failing to lead an industrious life, as required by his probation order. My approval to such proceedings is not required. The court, by imposing a fine, showed that it considered them to be justified.
