HC Deb 09 December 1959 vol 615 c42W
43. Mr. Swingler

asked the Secretary of State for Air what progress has been made with the provision of school places for the children of Royal Air Force parents at Khormaksar and Steamer Point, Aden; for how many children his Department is at present paying fees because of the lack of places in service schools; and how soon it will be possible to accommodate all the children requiring places.

Mr. Ward

250 extra places have recently been provided by temporary measures, and there is now no waiting list. About 200 children of Service families in Aden are attending civilian schools and having their fees refunded. Some use of these schools may remain necessary at least until the completion of the new Service school which is now being built.
