HC Deb 09 December 1959 vol 615 cc42-3W
51. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that, owing to inadequate dry docking facilities in Aberdeen Harbour, the North of Scotland and Orkney and Shetland Steamship Company, Aberdeen's largest shipping company, have threatened to move to another port; and if he, in conjunction with Aberdeen Harbour Commissioners, will take steps to avert this threatened loss.

Mr. Hay

The Harbour Commissioners are at present considering arrangements for bringing together all the interests directly concerned with dock facilities at Aberdeen, with a view to determining the financial implications of any replacement. We understand that the North of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland Shipping Company will be invited to assist in the examination of the problem.
