HC Deb 04 December 1959 vol 614 c170W
Mr. McInnes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied that there are adequate supplies of suitable smokeless fuels in Scotland to enable local authorities to proceed with their responsibilities under the Clean Air Act, 1956; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclay

I am satisfied that there are adequate supplies to cater for the smoke control areas at present set up or in preparation and I have no reason to think that shortage of suitable fuels is likely to delay the setting up of further areas.
