HC Deb 04 December 1959 vol 614 c167W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on the forthcoming alterations in the London food markets in relation to their effects on the sale of fish from Scottish ports.

Mr. John Hare

I am informed that the alterations which the Corporation of the City of London is proposing to make to the lay-out of the ground around Billingsgate Market are designed to relieve the present traffic congestion. This should give London retailers freer access to the market and the effect can only be beneficial to Scottish and other fishing ports supplying the market.
