HC Deb 03 December 1959 vol 614 c147W
63. Mr. Hendry

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the Scottish papermaking industry will be at a disadvantage compared with their Scandinavian competitors by not having a local source of woodpulp; and whether, to prevent the possibility of local unemployment through this cause, he will give special facilities and practical assistance for the establishment of a woodpulp mill in West Aberdeenshire.

Mr. Erroll

My right hon. Friend is aware of the expressed fears of the Scottish papermaking industry, but does not consider that he would be justified in going beyond the facilities already available in certain areas of Aberdeenshire.
