§ 55. Mr. Thorntonasked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take steps under Section 1 (8) and (9) of the Cotton Industry Act, 1959, to revoke the reorganisation schemes in those sections where firms have refused publicly to disclose their decisions under the schemes to scrap part or all of their machinery, as these refusals are contrary to the public interest on account of the uncertainty caused by them to the future of great numbers of cotton workers.
