HC Deb 02 December 1959 vol 614 cc132-3W
81. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the difficulties in obtaining youth employment in the central West Fife area, and that this problem is likely to become more acute consequent on development in the coal industry and the increasing numbers of school leavers; and what steps he is taking to ease the situation.

Mr. P. Thomas

I am fully aware of the difficulties, although the great majority of those leaving school at midsummer were placed in employment without undue delay, and I understand that impending developments should provide a number of new jobs. Youth Employment Officers will continue their efforts to find suitable employment for young persons in the area.
