HC Deb 30 April 1959 vol 604 cc157-8W
62. Mr. George Thomson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement on the circumstances in which European special police, on the night of 28th February, 1959, broke into the house of Mr. William Chokani, an African graduate in the Church of Scotland Mission, Blantyre, Nyasaland; and if he will investigate the allegations that his servant was assaulted and had to go to hospital.

Mr. J. Amery

The Governor informs me that nothing, except the written complaint of Mr. Chokani himself, is known of this alleged incident and that there is no record of the servant having reported at any hospital. The Governor is making further inquiries and, if there is any further information, I will circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
