HC Deb 30 April 1959 vol 604 c160W
70. Mr. P. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for War what progress is being made with building the new Army camp at Nairobi; how many local people are at present employed on the work; and for how long it is expected that such employment will last.

Mr. Soames

Work is expected to begin this summer and to continue for about three years. A few labourers are now employed on preliminary work. I cannot estimate closely the number required for the main contract, but it is likely to be over 1,000.
