HC Deb 29 April 1959 vol 604 c136W
Mr. Sorensen

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what further consideration has been given to arrangements for the holding of a plebiscite in the Cameroons in respect of the future of this territory; and what are the specific questions on which the plebiscite will be based.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Arrangements are being made for a plebiscite in the Northern Cameroons in mid-November, as recommended by the U.N. General Assembly, on a choice between joining Nigeria and deferring a decision about the future of the territory. As regards the Southern Cameroons, I have nothing to add to my reply to the hon. Member's Question of 9th April.
