HC Deb 29 April 1959 vol 604 c136W
Mrs. Castle

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies under what Colonial Regulations the official salary of Miss Grace Kahumbe was withheld from the date of her conviction of being a member of an unlawful society in Nyasaland.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Under Colonial Regulation No. 64, which says that any officer convicted on a criminal charge shall not receive any emoluments from the date of conviction pending consideration of his case by the Governor. Miss Kahumbe's salary has now been restored in full and she continues in her post without any break in service.
