HC Deb 28 April 1959 vol 604 c110W
Mr. M. MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland, what is the estimated cost of the old people's home, to be built at Stornoway; how many persons it will accommodate, with what minimum private room per individual; and to what extent the special accommodation of married couples has been provided for in the plans.

Mr. Maclay

The cost was estimated by the County Council in 1956 at about £50,000. The home will provide accommodation for 30 residents, 14 in single rooms, eight in rooms for two persons and eight in rooms for four persons. The four double rooms could, no doubt, be used for any married couples requiring accommodation in the home.
