HC Deb 28 April 1959 vol 604 c105W
44. The Rev. LI. Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies when there was last a resident doctor in Cayman Brac.

Mr. J. Amery

There has not been a resident doctor in Cayman Brac since the first world war, but a dispenser and midwife are resident in the island and provision is being made for the appointment of a resident nurse. The Government Medical Officer in Grand Cayman visits Cayman Brac for a week at a time twice a year and also pays occasional emergency visits. Consideration is being given to the appointment of a private doctor who would be paid a retainer from government funds.
