asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will issue a list of schemes in the road programme costing over £100,000 which were started in the year ended 31st March, 1959, with the present estimated completion date and total cost of each.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the total value of new construction and major improvement schemes authorised under the road programme for the financial year 1958–59.

Mr. Maclay

The total estimated cost of new construction and major improvement schemes on trunk and classified roads in Scotland authorised during 1958–59, including the Forth Road Bridge, is approximately £21,500,000, of which about £20,250,000 will be borne by the Exchequer.
