HC Deb 22 April 1959 vol 604 c50W
77. Sir F. Markham asked

the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs whether he will now reconsider the complaints he has had about the cement dust and fumes coming from the cement works at Pitstone, Leighton Buzzard; and what are the prospects of this nuisance being abated in the near future.

Mr. Bevins

These works are complying with the requirements of the Alkali Act, but at times there is a tendency for fine dust in the stack gases to form into little blobs and fall out locally. The Alkali Inspectorate is giving close attention to this, but I fear that an immediate improvement is not likely.
