§ 96 and 97. Dame Irene Wardasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation (1) when he expects to receive proposals from the Cunard Company on the replacement of the Queens;
(2) whether he will consider attaching to any subsidy for the replacement of the Queens a condition that tenders should be invited.
§ 98. Mr. Croninasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will make a further statement as to the policy of Her Majesty's Government with regard to financial assistance from the Treasury for the replacement of the Cunard liners "Queen Mary" and "Queen Elizabeth".

§ Mr. WatkinsonI hope to receive the proposals of the Cunard Steamship Company as soon as possible. When they are received they will be most carefully considered and all relevant considerations will be taken into account. Until then the Government are not in a position to take any decision about financial assistance from public funds or about any conditions which might be attached to such assistance.
