§ Mr. Maclay1,109 fatal accidents in the home were registered in Scotland in 1958. The main causes were falls 48 per cent.; gas poisoning 21 per cent.; suffocation 15 per cent.; injuries by fire, scalding, etc., 9 per cent.; and poison 5 per cent. in that order.
