Mr. Robert Cooke

asked the Minister of Health what was the total sum spent on hospital building improvements in 1945 to 1951, and from 1952 to date, in Bristol; and what further expenditure is planned.

Capital expenditure at the hospitals of the nine Bristol Hospital Management Committees and of the United Bristol Hospitals was £483,820 from July, 1948 to March, 1951 and £2,258,948 from the year 1951–52 to date. It is estimated that £500,000 will be spent in 1959–60. Figures for expenditure before 1948 are not available.
