HC Deb 20 April 1959 vol 604 c7W
84. Mr. Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will ascertain from the Federal German Government to what extent, in preparing their report to him denying the reemployment of former Nazi judges in Hesse and Saarland, investigations were made into the cases of Chief Public Prosecutor Knobloch, Chief Public Prosecutor Quillue, and Senate President Stoelzel, all of Hesse, Senate President Franz Glazer, Senate President Boemmels, and Judge Emmerich, all of Saarland; and whether he will make a statement.

85. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what details were given in the report supplied to him by the Federal German Government on the employment of former Nazi judges in Hesse and Saarland of Dr. Otto Scheinsberger, Senior Public Prosecutor in Frankfurt Upper Provincial Court, Hesse; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. R. Allan

These investigations are being carried out by and for the Federal German Government. They have kept us informed generally. We do not, however, ask them to supply details of all the individual investigations which they have carried out or will carry out. I understand that Dr. Schweinsberger had been suspended from duty pending an investigation which is still in progress.
