HC Deb 20 April 1959 vol 604 cc2-3W
Dr. D. Johnson

asked the Minister of Health if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the amount of the sum received by the Hospitals Endowment Fund in each year since the inception of the National Health Service; and if he will give particulars of the origin of any sum of more than £100,000 paid to this fund during that time.

Mr. Walker-Smith

I assume that the Question refers to gifts and legacies received by hospital authorities under Sections 59 and 60 of the National Health Service Act, 1946, and not to the investment income of the Hospital Endowments Fund, the assets of which were transferred to the Minister in 1948 under Section 7 (4) of the Act.

I regret that the information requested is not readily available, but I shall be writing to my hon. Friend about this matter generally.
