HC Deb 16 April 1959 vol 603 c94W
25. Sir W. Anstruther-Gray

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether his attention has been drawn to the arrival in the London Zoo of omul fish from Russia; what requests he has received for permission for such fish to be liberated in English lakes or rivers; and what was the nature of his reply.

Mr. Godber

asked My right hon. Friend has issued a licence to the London Zoo under the Diseases of Fish Act, 1937, to import omul fish ova from the Soviet Union. He has not received any requests for permission to liberate such fish in English waters or lakes and the zoo has undertaken not to release to others any of the ova, or fish hatched from the ova, without consulting my Ministry.
