HC Deb 14 April 1959 vol 603 cc65-6W
69. Sir F. Medlicott

asked the Minister of Works if his attention has been drawn to the primitive and laborious method by which poles are erected in The Mall on the occasion of the welcoming of distinguished visitors; and if he will take steps to provide permanent iron sockets, with a removable cap, into which sockets the poles can be fitted whenever the need arises.

Mr. Molson

Permanent sockets have been in use for some years for the poles which are erected in The Mall on ceremonial occasions.
