§ Mr. McAddenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will now permit the sending of cash gifts to persons abroad.
Mr. AmoryYes. Bona fide cash gifts are already allowed to persons in the sterling area and in Scandinavia. Arrangements are now being made by the banks and the Post Office to enable anyone to make such gifts to persons resident elsewhere, up to a total of £10 in each calendar year. These facilities will be available from 10th November next, and the full allowance for 1958 can be utilised between then and the end of December.
