§ 80. Mr. Masonasked the Secretary of State for Air to what extent the Royal Observer Corps monitoring stations are working in conjunction with the Medical Research Council in studying the amount of radioactive fall-out over the British Isles; what regular monitoring is being carried out; and if he will issue an annual report or statement on the work and results of these 1,500 stations.
Mr. WardThe Royal Observer Corps exists to track low flying aircraft and to track and measure radioactive fall-out in the event of air attack. In peace-time it is occupied in training for these tasks. This training does not include the regular measurement of radioactivity in the atmosphere. The last part of the Question does not therefore arise.
